Living in Toronto, my commute home was a manageable 3 hours. Today, it'll be 7 1/2 hours if I don't hit too much traffic. I anticipate having to stop once for gas and a quick snack (I've packed a salad and grapes to avoid needing to buy an entire meal on the road).
Anticipating that I'd be going home for Easter I'd set aside a few dollars since January for the occasion. Here's what I'm going into the weekend with:
Gas - $120.00 (with gas between $1.30 - $1.40 between Ottawa and home I think this will cover me)
Entertainment - $30 - 1 coffee date, 1 dinner out. Evenings will mostly be spent in catching up with friends/family.
Groceries - $10 - we have a specialty grocery store in town that makes the most amazing homemade dressing, so I'm bringing back a couple of bottles to Ottawa.
I'm looking forward to catching up with friends and family I haven't seen since Christmas, and likely won't see again until Thanksgiving.
